Several photos of Xiaomi’s upcoming electric SUV have surfaced online showcasing some similarities with the existing SU7 sedan, and looking ready to continue the success of the Chinese tech giant in the car business.

Given that this is only the company’s second vehicle, we’d assume it would essentially just be a swollen version of the SU7, much like the Tesla Model Y is to the Model 3. Spy shots of the new EV reveal that it will share much of its design with the sedan, albeit with slightly different proportions. The cabin seems to have undergone some more obvious tweaks.

Spy shots shared by Chinese media outlets show that the SUV will have a similar three-spoke steering wheel to the sedan but the digital instrument cluster looks to have been set further back in the dashboard, hence why it’s not visible. Like pretty much every other EV out there, a large central infotainment display is also visible. Xiaomi has also altered the shape of the tunnel.

Whereas the SU7 has a pair of wireless chargers, and a column of physical buttons, the SUV lacks the buttons and moves to two individual cupholders. The center console has been altered, too. Little else can be gleaned from these photos.
The firm’s new SUV is expected to share the same Modena platform as the sedan and in all likelihood, will be available with the same powertrain options. This means the entry-level version will likely have a single motor driving the rear wheels with 295 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. The SU7 has a relatively modest 73.6 kWh battery pack with 400-volt technology but is good for a claimed 415 miles (668 km) of range on the Chinese test cycle.
Sitting at the top of the SUV range will be an all-wheel drive version, likely pumping out 664 hp, allowing it to rocket to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds. This model should feature an 800-volt system and a larger 101 kWh battery. There’s no word on whether a hardcore, track-focused version akin to the 1,500+ hp SU7 Ultra will be released, but we’re not getting our hopes up, or should you.
