Iveco unveiled a new fully electric LCV for the European market, developed in collaboration with Hyundai. The Iveco eMoovy is actually a rebadged Hyundai Staria, coming with a chassis-cab bodystyle and a zero emission powertrain.

Iveco says that the eMoovy is the first electric offering in the 2.5-3.5 ton LCV segment. According to the press release, the power electric system is carried over from Hyundai Group’s largest electric SUV, most likely referring to the Kia EV9 and the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Power comes from a single electric motor generating 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The battery has a capacity of either 63 kW or 76 kWh, with the larger option offering a maximum WLTP range of 320 km (199 miles). Furthermore, the 800V architecture is compatible with V2L functions and ultra-fast charging. When connected to a 350 kW charger, the LCV adds 100 km (62 miles) of range in 10 minutes.

Hyundai has yet to reveal an EV version of the Staria, which is currently available with ICE and hybrid options. Chances are that the MPV will adopt the powertrain of the Iveco eMoovy sometime in the near future, further expanding its lineup.

From the outside, the model is identical to Hyundai ST1, which is the cab-chassis version of the Staria. The only exception is the decorative grille insert at the front with Iveco lettering. The rear part is configurable, with a wide range of bodies including box van and pickup.

Depending on the add-on, the maximum loading capacity is 10 cubic meters (353 cubic feet), while the payload is 1.5 tons (3,307 pounds). Iveco says that the low profile of the LCV is “ideal for logistics and delivery operations”, with the low ground clearance “maximizing cargo bin capacity and improving operator mobility”.

The interior and the equipment are also carried over from the Hyundai twin, including a digital cockpit, eco-leather seats with heating and ventilation, and a number of ADAS.

The Iveco eMoovy debuted at the IAA Transportation show in Hannover. Besides the new eLCV, Hyundai and Iveco are exploring “electric heavy-duty truck solutions for European markets”, expanding a collaboration that started in 2022 with a focus on carbon-neutral mobility and transport.
